Are you a contentious construction lawyer who is thinking about a move in 2024?
Our client is a national top 100 sized law firm, with a number of offices. Their highly regarded construction team is consistently ranked by Chambers & Partners.
They have a fairly small construction practice compared to some of their competitors but the structure of the team is very good. There’s plenty of partner and senior level support but also trainees and paralegals within the team. You will find this means you get excellent exposure to work and clients and hopefully more job satisfaction for you. The work will be a mix of contentious and non-contentious, but the interest at the moment is on the contentious side and so you will need to have contentious experience (either pure contentious construction or from an insurance / professional indemnity background). Most people in the team do a mix of work but there is the option to focus on contentious work only if you would prefer.
Clients are genuinely broad ranging with a mix of developers, funders, contractors etc and both private and public sector. The team do not do insurance related construction work (but would consider applications from people with this experience). Some work is on large projects and there is also the opportunity to advise on discrete issues as well as working collaboratively with other teams within the firm.
This firm is known for its culture and this particular team embodies this; the partners are approachable and supportive and this could be a great position for you as you progress your career. The firm don’t have a fixed approach to flexible working so if this is something that is important to you, then it’s just a case of having a conversation around what might work for you.
