About the role
Our client is looking for a Conflicts and Ethics Lawyer to join their Office of the General Counsel (OGC) team in London or Manchester. You’ll support the firm’s compliance programmes, including new business and conflicts intake and general regulatory risk management. You’ll also build your knowledge of legal ethics and professional responsibility rules across the firm’s jurisdictions, particularly outside the US.
Hybrid working is available, with the majority of days in the office.
Key responsibilities
- Support senior lawyers and Conflicts Department colleagues in identifying, evaluating and resolving ethical and business conflicts for lateral hires and new business
- Carry out legal research and analysis on conflicts, ethics and professional responsibility as requested by the Senior Assistant General Counsels
- Take ownership of risk management programmes such as file audits, accountants’ letters and contract review
- Review and analyse Outside Counsel Guidelines, engagement letters and other client terms of engagement
- Work with stakeholders across the firm to research and analyse complex ethics and compliance questions
About you
- Qualified as a solicitor, barrister or equivalent foreign lawyer, with an unfettered right to practise in your home jurisdiction and an active practising certificate or local bar membership
- Post-qualification experience (preferred)
- Experience in a law firm conflicts team (essential) and general law firm compliance experience (preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels of the firm
- A collaborative, team-first approach
- A willingness to work in a hybrid pattern with most days in the office
