We’re proud to partner with a respected and successful law firm which is investing in the continued growth of its Exeter office. To support this strategy, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Private Client lawyer who is technically expert, with the ideas and enthusiasm to actively contribute to the team’s future success. 

Whether you’re an ambitious Associate ready for the next step, an established Senior Associate, or a Salaried Partner looking for a platform to make a real impact, this is an opportunity to play a significant role in developing both the Private Client practice and the wider Exeter office. 

The Opportunity 

You’ll advise on a broad range of high-quality Private Client work, including complex estates, trusts, succession planning and wealth preservation matters, acting for high-net-worth individuals, business owners, farming families and landed estates. 

Alongside your legal work, you’ll have the opportunity to help grow the practice locally, strengthen existing client relationships, develop new ones, and work closely with colleagues across the firm to build a thriving Private Client offering in Exeter. 

This is a role for someone who enjoys building relationships, mentoring others and contributing to the success of a wider team. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Advising on complex Private Client matters including trusts, estate planning, succession and wealth structuring. 
• Working with business owners, agricultural clients and high-net-worth individuals. 
• Developing your own client relationships and helping grow the firm’s presence across Exeter and the surrounding region. 
• Mentoring junior lawyers and supporting their development. 
• Working collaboratively with the Head of Department and Head of Office to continue building an exceptional team culture. 
• Playing an active role in networking, business development and raising the firm’s profile within the local market. 

About You 

You’ll be an experienced Private Client solicitor with strong technical expertise and a genuine interest in helping develop both clients and colleagues. 

Ideally you’ll have: 

• STEP qualification (or be working towards it). 
• Experience advising on trusts, estate planning and complex Private Client matters. 
• Exposure to agricultural, rural or business succession work. 
• A commercial approach and an interest in developing client relationships. 
• The confidence to mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the growth of the team.
• Most importantly, you’ll enjoy working collaboratively and want to be part of building something for the long term.
