We’re working with a leading international law firm that is growing its UK Real Estate team and looking for an experienced lawyer to join its Energy & Energy Transition (EET) practice. If you’re passionate about the move to a decentralised, decarbonised energy industry, this is a chance to work on high-value, strategically important projects in a supportive, collegiate environment.

The practice

The firm is widely recognised as a leading adviser in the energy transition, and decarbonisation is a core theme of its wider strategy. The Real Estate team sits across two areas:

  • Energy: acting for institutional investors, funders and developers on renewables and energy innovation projects, including solar, wind, battery storage, energy from waste and hydro.
  • Utilities: working with English and Welsh electricity, water and gas companies on land rights and consenting matters (contentious and non-contentious), plus large-scale compulsory purchase schemes, both CPO and DCO led.

The wider Real Estate team of 100+ fee-earners handles complex investment, development and transactional work, including corporate structured deals, joint ventures and financings. You’ll work closely with colleagues in construction, disputes, planning, corporate and funds and finance.

The work

Recent matters include:

  • Multi-million pound investments and refinancings of renewable and energy infrastructure portfolios
  • Acquisitions, development and sales of wind and solar assets
  • DCO and CPO projects for major electricity network operators, including large-scale landowner engagement
  • Land and consenting strategy for major infrastructure programmes

About you

  • Senior Associate or Associate Director level, with Real Estate experience from a well-respected practice
  • Demonstrable experience of energy or utilities projects
  • A genuine passion for the energy transition
  • A collaborative approach, with the confidence to work with clients and colleagues across teams

Why this role

  • High-quality clients and work, with early responsibility and client exposure
  • An award-winning career development programme with clear progression expectations and individual feedback
  • Reward based on contribution and potential, not just PQE or tenure
  • A growing team, strong client demand and a genuinely supportive culture
  • A firm that values difference and encourages applicants from all backgrounds, with wellbeing initiatives and benefits
