Talis Legal Recruitment is working with a UK Top 50 law firm to appoint a senior associate or legal director to its Construction & engineering team in Bristol.
The firm
Our client is a full-service firm with a strong regional and national presence, known for its collegiate culture and a proactive, forward-looking approach to client work. The Construction & Engineering team acts for public and private sector clients, including universities, academies, local authorities, NHS Trusts, funders, developers, contractors and consultants. There is strong mentoring, regular communication and a clear route for advancement.
The role
- Advising on contentious construction matters across ADR, mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation
- Providing project support to colleagues in Real Estate, Corporate and other departments
- Building and growing client relationships, and contributing to the firm’s strategic direction
- Leading and mentoring junior lawyers
- Business development, including networking, events, conferences and pitches
About you
- Experience of contentious construction work, including adjudication, litigation and/or arbitration
- Working knowledge of the main standard form contracts, particularly JCT and NEC
- Knowledge of ADR methods
- Commercial awareness, with the ability to align advice with clients’ objectives
- Strong attention to detail, and the ability to draft clear, accurate and complex documentation
- Proven ability to mentor others, manage matters profitably and develop business
